Sarasota Bicyclist Is Critically Injured Attempting To Cross US-41 In Bradenton

Manatee County – Florida Highway Patrol has announced that one person has been critically injured while attempting to bicycle across US-41 In Manatee County Sunday Morning.

According to the report by FHP, the fatal crash began as a sport utility vehicle, driven by a 31-year-old woman from Bradenton, Florida, was traveling north on US 41, on the right lane, north of 22nd Avenue West.

A bicyclist, a 52-year-old man from Sarasota Florida, was attempting to cross the travel lanes of US 41, north of 22nd Avenue West.

The SUV swerved to avoid the bicyclists, but the left front of the SUV collided with the bicyclists.

The bicyclist, the 52-year-old man from Sarasota, Florida, sustained critical injuries and was then transported to Blake Medical Center.

This crash remains under investigation.

Sarasota Woman In Critical Condition After Losing Control Of Automobile

Sarasota County – Florida Highway Patrol has announced that one person is in critical condition after losing control of their automobile in Sarasota Saturday morning.

According to the report by FHP, the accident began as a sedan driven by a 41-year-old woman from Sarasota, Florida, was traveling east on Webber Street in Sarasota, approaching the intersection with Java Plum Avenue.

According to the report, the car’s driver, a 41-year-old woman from Sarasota Florida, was operating the vehicle recklessly.

At 3:59 A.M., the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the roadway and where they collided with a tree.

After the initial collision, the sedan continued to travel east, and collided with a second tree, ejecting the driver from the sedan.

The 41-year-old woman from Sarasota sustained critical injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.

FHP Closes Case On Fatal DUI Crash In Englewood On Indiana Avenue

ENGLEWOOD FLORIDA – The Florida Highway Patrol has completed an exhaustive criminal investigation into the September 12, 2022, fatal traffic crash on State Road 776 and Artists Avenue. The crash resulted in the untimely deaths of a 73-year-old woman from Englewood Florida, and two passengers a 68-year-old woman from Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and a 68-year-old woman from Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Troopers determined that leading up to the tragedy, the at-fault driver, Cash Kaufmann, age 25, of Sarasota, was driving a 2018 Hyundai SUV at a high rate of speed, with a blood alcohol concentration level of .096, and also tested positive for THC.

On March 23, 2023, The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit placed Kaufmann under arrest for vehicular homicide, 3 counts of DUI Manslaughter, and DUI destruction of property, and booked him into the Sarasota County Jail.

The accident began as a Sport Utility Vehicle driven by a 25-year-old-man from Englewood, Florida traveling south on Indiana Avenue, on the outside lane, north of Artists Avenue. A second vehicle, a Sport Utility Vehicle, driven by a 73-year-old female from Englewood, Florida, and two passengers a 68 year-old-female from Thief River Falls, Minnesota and a 68 year-old-female from Grand Forks, North Dakota were stopped at a stop sign in Artists Avenue west of Indiana Avenue.

The second Sport Utility Vehicle entered the intersection in front of the SUV driven by Cash Kaufmann. The front of Cash Kaufmann’s SUV collided with the side of the second SUV.

As a result of the collision, the second SUV overturned on its right side and came to rest on Indiana Avenue. Cash Kaufmann’s SUV also came to rest on Indiana Avenue.

The driver of the SUV Cash Kaufmann hit was pronounced dead on the scene and one of the passengers was also pronounced deceased. The other passenger was transported to an area hospital and later died on 9/16/22.

Man Dies, And Two Injured In Car Accident On US 41 In Charlotte County Wednesday Night

Charlotte County – Florida Highway Patrol has announced that one person has died after an auto accident In Charlotte County Wednesday Night.

According to the report by FHP, the fatal crash began as a sedan driven by an 18 year-old-man from Punt Gorda, Florida, was traveling south on US 41, approaching Notre Dame Boulevard, on the inside lane. Also traveling in the vehicle was a 17-year-old boy from Punta Gorda.

Ahead of the sedan with the two young men, was a sedan driven by a 59 year-old-man from Punta Gorda who stopped at the intersection of Notre Dame Boulevard and US 41, preparing to make a right turn.

At approximately 3:14 A.M. The driver of the sedan on Notre Dame Boulevard turned right onto US 41 failing to yield to the oncoming traffic and driving directly into the path of the oncoming car.

The front of the first sedan collided with the rear of the second sedan at speed.

The force of the collision redirected the right-turning sedan onto the shoulder, where it overturned.

The first vehicle with the two young men then traveled off the roadway and came to rest on the shoulder of the road.

The driver of the second vehicle, the 59-year-old man from Punta Gorda was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver and passenger of the first vehicle sustained injuries and were then transported to an area hospital for medical treatment.

This crash remains under investigation by authorities.

Palmetto Man Dies In Auto Accident After Losing Control Of Car In Manatee County

Manatee County – Florida Highway Patrol has announced that one person has died after losing control of his car in Manatee County Monday afternoon.

According to the report by FHP, the fatal crash began as a sedan driven by a 28 year-old-man from Palmetto, Florida was traveling south on Erie Road.

At 2:55 P.M. the sedan crossed over the centerline, and the sedan lost control and traveled off the roadway, and collided with two large concrete pipes.

The driver, the 28 year-old-man from Palmetto, Florida sustained critical injuries and was flown by helicopter to Bake Medical Center.

This crash remains under investigation by authorities.

Punta Gorda Woman Dies After Her Motorcycle Was Hit By A Dump Truck In Charlotte County

Charlotte County – Florida Highway Patrol has announced that a motorcyclist has died after being hit by a dump truck on County Road 74 at the intersection with U.S. 17 Wednesday morning.

According to the report by FHP, the fatal accident began as a Dump Truck driven by a 48-year-old man fron North Port Florida, he was stopped on the inside left turn lane of County Road 74, at the intersection of U.S. 17, for a red traffic signal.

Directly in front of the Dump truck, was a motorcycle driven by a 27-year-old woman from Punta Gorda Florida, also lawfully stopped while waiting for the traffic signal to turn.

At 7:20:00 AM the traffic signal changed to green and the Dump Truck accelerated forward, however the truck driver failed to yield to the slower motorcycle in front, thus causing the front of the dump truck to crash into the motorcycle from behind.

The 27-year-old woman was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.

FHP has stated that this crash remains under investigation by authorities at this time.

Sarasota Motorcyclist Dies After Being Hit By Left-Turn SUV On Bee Ridge Saturday

SARASOTA – Florida Highway Patrol announced a Sarasota man has died after being struck while riding his motorcycle on Bee Ridge Road Saturday evening.

The Crash took place as a 20-year-old man from Sarasota Florida, was riding a motorcycle heading east on Beee Ridge Road approaching Interstate 75 in the center land.

As the motorcyclist approached I-75 31-year-old woman from Port Charlotte was driving a Jeep sport utility westbound on west Bee Ridge Road within the left turn lane approaching I-75.

At 6:39 PM, the driver of the Jeep SUV failed to yield to the oncoming motorcycle and attempted to make a left turn out of the turn lane and across Bee Ridge Road onto the I-75 entrance ramp.

This placed the Jeep SUV directly into the path of the oncoming motorcycle.

As a result, the front of the motorcycle collided with the side of the Jeep SUV and the motorcyclist was critically injured by the crash.

First responders rushed the injured Sarasota man to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

FHP has stated that the crash remains under investigation.

Palmetto Man Is Dies After Being Ejected From Sedan On Us-41 In Manatee County

Manatee County – Florida Highway Patrol has announced that one person has died after losing control of their sedan and was ejected from the vehicle on US-41 and 37th Street Court East in Manatee County Tuesday Afternoon.

According to the report by FHP, the fatal crash began as a sedan driven by a 20-year-old man from Palmetto Florida, was traveling north in the left lane on US-41 North, approaching 37th Street Court East and the entrance ramp with US-41 Business Route.

At the same time, another vehicle, a sport utility vehicle driven by a 58-year-old woman approached 37th Street Court East and US-41 North.

The Palmetto man lost control of the sedan, which caused the sedan to veer across the right lane of US-41 North and onto the grass portion of the roadway.

At 5:44 P.M. the sedan rotated and overturned onto the entrance ramp of US-41 Business Route, and then collided with the left rear of the sport utility vehicle.

The man from Palmetto was ejected from the sedan and sustained critical injuries. He was then transported to an area hospital and was later pronounced deceased.

This crash remains under investigation by authorities.

Wrong Way Head-On Collision On Interstate 75 Injures Four In Sarasota

Nokomis Florida – Florida Highway Patrol has announced that four people are injured after a head-on collision on Interstate I-75 at Mile Marker 195 Wednesday Night.

According to the report by FHP, the fatal crash began as a van driven by a 69 year-old-man from Port Charlotte, Florida was traveling Northbound on Interstate 75 In the wrong direction north of Laurel Road.

A second vehicle, a sport utility with a 50 year-old-woman from North Port, Florida with a 15-year-old female passenger from North Port, Florida, and a 21-year-old male passenger from North Port, Florida was also traveling south on Interstate 75 in the far left lane approaching Laurel Road in Venice.

A third vehicle, a sedan driven by an 18-year-old female from Saint Petersburg, Florida with a 19-year-old female passenger from Saint Petersburg, Florida, and a 20-year-old female passenger also from Saint Petersburg, Florida were traveling south on Interstate 75, in the left lane, directly behind the sport utility vehicle.

As the second vehicle was lawfully traveling on I-75, they encountered the wrong-way driver traveling in the van. Unable to avoid a collision, the front of the van collided with the front of the sport utility vehicle in a head-on crash.

The force of the collision then redirected the van into the path of the oncoming sedan, causing the front of the van to crash into the front of the sedan.

FHP has stated that the crash remains under investigation by authorities, with no details about why the driver of the van entered the interstate going the wrong direction.
